Introduction to Ban Ho commune

Ban Ho commune in Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province is located nearly 30km southwest of Sa Pa town center. Although located quite far from the center, this place is favored by nature for its extremely ‘prime’ geographical position. This village has a completely different climate compared to other destinations of Sapa. The weather in the village is quite warm and the winter is not as cold as in many other villages.

Nestled on the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range and reflected in the poetic Muong Hoa stream, creating a charming scene for Ban Ho. When coming to Ban Ho, visitors will be surprised by the green color as far as the eyes of the upland rice on the terraced fields, surrounded by the houses of ethnic people scattered along the two banks of the stream. Ban Ho’s center is Ban Den village, the meeting place of two streams, Muong Hoa and La Ve. 

At the time when the sun goes down the mountain, you can go to people’s houses to see handmade brocade products or buy brocade towels and pieces as gifts for your loved ones. On weekend evenings, you can gather with the locals at the cultural house to join the fun and sing with the indigenous people. Each ethnic group will have different characteristics reflected in their games, dances as well as their unique dishes.

 

Cultural information

Visiting Ho village, visitors can admire the traditional villages of the Tay people, and learn about the lifestyle and lifestyle of the residents in the village. Walking around Sapa Lake village, visitors can visit the house of Tay ethnic people, discover how to weave brocade, and exchange singing and dancing with them.

During the journey back to this beautiful village in the Northwest, visitors also pass through the typical traditional stilt houses of the Tay people. This is a model of a house with unique architecture, made of wood to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The houses nestled between the fields and terraced fields are green, creating a beautiful picture in the Northwest style.
